Taj Mahal Symbol of Love

Taj Mahal

During the Mughal era, the city of Agra was exceedingly prominent. Still, to this date, thanks to the magnificent Taj Mahal, the city continues to enjoy its important position in India.

Many consider Taj Mahal to be no less than a testimony of a great Mughal Emperor’s Shah Jahan’s deep rooted, pure love for his wife, Mumtaz. She had passed away and Shah Jahan erected this beautiful building as a tribute for her. The construction of the building commenced in the year 1632 and was completed in the year 1648.

What makes Taj Mahal even more outstanding that it is one of the Seven Wonders of the world! Hence, you can imagine how many people from far and wide come to visit this place. It is simply the most beautiful structural compositions which the world has ever seen. The UNESCO, in 1983, designated the Taj Mahal as a World Heritage site.

The mausoleum enjoys a dreamlike beauty. It is said that Emperor Shah Jahan’s wife, Mumtaz was immensely beautiful, and this Taj Mahal’s beauty is actually a reflection of the queen’s beauty. Anybody who has visited this beautiful place will agree that the tomb has an awe inspiring beauty surrounding it, which often leaves the tourists speechless. Many people wonder what is it about Taj Mahal being so wonderful? Maybe the intentions and the essence which lie behind the conception of Taj Mahal make it so remarkable and outstanding.

Taj Mahal has been standing tall for quite a long time, but it seems that it only becomes even more graceful and beautiful, with age. The charm and glory, till date, are as amazing as they were when it was newly constructed.

One could go on and on about the beauty and splendor of Taj Mahal. At dawn it looks almost pearly pink and by moonlight it becomes opalescent. In the center of Taj Mahal, the remains of the Empress and the Emperor reside.

Though Agra, as a city has a lot more to offer as well, but Taj Mahal is definitely one of its major attractions. Other than Taj Mahal, the Red Fort also attracts a lot of tourists. The town of Fatehpur-Sikri is another famous place in Agra. The climate of Agra is very, very hot during the summer; therefore the ideal time to visit this city is in winter. Since it is pleasant in the winters, you can roam about the city and have a good time.

A number of documentaries have been made on the famous Taj Mahal, trying to capture its beauty and perfection. However, the first hand experience of visiting it, is truly unmatchable.
